Datablog – Humanitarian Aid to Syria

In September 2013 Sean Anderson and I put together a piece for the Guardian Datablog on how much humanitarian aid countries pledged (and then gave) to UN humanitarian relief effort.

Total Donations

The data were taken from the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs website that keeps track of donations pledged and paid.

Donations as a % of GDP

We used Tableau Public to produce the visualisations. We thought it was important to show a contrast between the total donations and pledges and how big these were when compared with the GDP of the donor countries.

Donations over $25M
